Dr. Nigel I. Kennedy MD, Ph.D. is an expert physician, licensed by the Medical Board of California and certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology as a Specialist in the field of Psychiatry.

Prior to completing specialist training in Psychiatry at Mount Sinai in New York, Dr. Kennedy completed Medical and Foundation Training in the UK and specialized in the field of Neurosurgery.

He was awarded his Ph.D. in Neurogenetics in 2006 from Imperial College London, having received a grant from the Medical Research Council of the United Kingdom. for his research characterizing genetic variants associated with schizophrenia.

Dr. Kennedy graduated from St. George's Medical School, University of London in 2009.

Having completed Foundation Training within the National Health Service, working at two major London hospitals, he was appointed a specialist trainee in Neurosurgery before moving to the United States to become a physician-scientist in the field of Psychiatry.

Dr. Kennedy completed his Psychiatry residency on the Physician-Scientist track at the Icahn School of Medicine in New York, graduating as Co-Chief Resident for research.

Post graduation, Dr. Kennedy was appointed as an Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at Columbia University, providing clinical training for medical students at the Vagelos School of Medicine at Columbia University whilst continuing his research interests at the Nathan Kline Institute.

Dr. Kennedy has also served as Unit Chief of the Geriatric Psychiatry Unit at The Mount Sinai Hospital, New York City, teaching and training medical students and residents alongside his clinical, research and administrative duties.

Dr. Kennedy continues to hold an academic appointment as Assistant Professor in Psychiatry at The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and remains active in teaching and training within the program.
